Rhode Island’s Contractor Registration Law requires that all contractors and subcontractors engaging in bidding, building, repairing or remodeling a project must be registered with the Rhode Island Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board.

All contracts over $1,000 must be in writing. Also, legitimate countertop contractors in RI will carry both liability insurance and Workers’ Compensation insurance to cover all their bases.  

The Rhode Island Contractors’ Registration and Licensing Board offers consumers some very important information when entering in a contract with a contractor of any countertop installation project.

• Verify contractor is registered with the CRLB.
• Check for any open claims or violations.
• Get contract in writing.
